Submarine Rescue System (e.g., NSRS, SRDRS)

A submarine rescue system is a transportable set of assets that locates a disabled submarine, delivers life support, and recovers the crew, kept ready by international cooperation because no single navy can cover every theater. The NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS), shared by the UK, France, and Norway and operational from 2008, pairs a remotely operated vehicle with a manned rescue submersible flyable to a port of opportunity. The US Navy’s Submarine Rescue Diving and Recompression System (SRDRS) replaced the DSRVs with a Pressurized Rescue Module. Both work under the ISMERLO coordination framework.
