UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a Royal Navy organization that is the primary point of contact between merchant shipping and military forces in the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden, Red Sea, and Gulf region. UKMTO runs the Voluntary Reporting Scheme, receives ship position and movement reports, issues threat warnings and advisories, and alerts naval forces when a ship is attacked. BMP directs ships to report to UKMTO on entering the reporting area. UKMTO has long operated from Dubai, working alongside MSCHOA, which handles vessel registration and transit planning.
