Zonal Pilotage Group

A regional grouping of marine pilots organized to serve a defined pilotage district or zone, the area of compulsory or available pilotage set by the competent pilotage authority. Pilots in such a group share local knowledge of the channel, tides, and berths, rotate assignments through the pilot station, and board via the pilot ladder under SOLAS Regulation V/23 and IMO Resolution A.1045(27). The structure reflects how pilotage is administered district by district; the exact body name varies by country and port authority.
