Approved Continuous Examination Programme for CSC container inspection.
An Approved Continuous Examination Program (ACEP) is one of two container re-examination schemes permitted under the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) 1972, the alternative being the periodic examination scheme (PES). Under ACEP the container owner runs a continuous inspection regime approved by an administration, so a unit is treated as examined each time it is repaired or passes through an approved interchange or repair facility, rather than at fixed dates. The 1983 amendments introduced ACEP and set the PES re-examination interval at 30 months. An ACEP-registered container carries the program reference on its CSC safety approval plate.
