Regulations for the Prevention of Pollution by Harmful Substances in Packaged Form.
MARPOL Annex III covers prevention of pollution by harmful substances carried by sea in packaged form. It defines harmful substances by reference to the marine-pollutant criteria of the IMDG Code and sets packing, marking, labelling, documentation, stowage, and quantity-limitation standards. It entered into force on 1 July 1992 and is implemented in practice through the IMDG Code.
