Aqua-blasting

Aqua-blasting, also called wet abrasive blasting or slurry blasting, mixes abrasive with water in the blast stream to clean hull and structural steel while suppressing dust and reducing spark and heat. The water knocks down airborne dust and, with the right additive, helps remove soluble salts (chlorides) that dry blasting leaves on the surface and that drive under-film corrosion. It is used in repair and maintenance blasting where dust control or salt removal matters, and it can reach ISO 8501-1 wet equivalents of Sa 2 to Sa 2.5. Flash rusting after wetting must be controlled with inhibitors or fast over-coating, and a soluble-salt test confirms cleanliness before paint.
