- Airless spray

- Aliphatic polyurethane
- Topcoat chemistry providing excellent color and gloss retention under UV exposure, used on superstructures and topsides.
- Aluminum Oxide
- Hard, angular synthetic abrasive (Al2O3) used for blast cleaning and for the cutting media in coated abrasives, recyclable in cabinet blasting.
- AMPP
- Association for Materials Protection and Performance, formed in 2021 by the merger of NACE International and SSPC, that administers coatings inspector and corrosion certifications.
- AMPP CCI

- Anchor Pattern
- Geometric layout of mooring legs around a moored unit.
- Anode Shield
- Dielectric coating applied around a hull-mounted impressed-current or sacrificial anode to prevent cathodic disbondment of adjacent paint.
- Anticorrosive primer
- First or second coat in a marine paint system, usually epoxy-based, that provides the principal barrier against corrosion.
- Antifouling Coating
- Final coating on submerged hulls designed to prevent settlement and growth of marine organisms by biocide release or low-surface-energy fouling release.
- Applicator Certification
