Definition

Brunel-themed museum complex around the SS Great Britain.

A Bristol heritage site built around the SS Great Britain, the iron-hulled, screw-propeller steamship that Isambard Kingdom Brunel launched in 1843 as the first ship to combine both technologies. The vessel was salvaged from the Falkland Islands in 1970 and returned to the Great Western Dockyard where it was built. The complex includes the Brunel Institute archive and the David MacGregor Library of maritime history.
