Buenos Aires Maritime Cluster
F3. Seafaring Life, Education, Professions and InstitutionsDefinition
Argentine port-city seafaring community.
The maritime concentration around Buenos Aires, Argentina, the country’s main port-city and the gateway for grain and soybean exports moving down the Parana-Plata waterway. It groups shipping agencies, P&I correspondents, customs brokers, river pilots, and admiralty lawyers serving the River Plate trade. Buenos Aires hosts the national maritime authority (Prefectura Naval Argentina) and the Argentine merchant fleet’s commercial base; the deeper bulk-loading terminals sit upriver at Rosario and the Up-River ports on the Parana.
