Catalog of charts

Definition

NOAA/UKHO catalog listing chart numbers and coverage.

A catalog of charts is the index publication that lists every chart a hydrographic office issues, with chart numbers, titles, scales, and coverage diagrams showing the limits of each sheet. NOAA, NGA, and the UKHO each publish one, the UKHO as the Catalogue of Admiralty Charts and Publications, so the navigator can pick the right scales for a passage and check that the outfit is complete. The catalog is read with the chart correction system, Notices to Mariners, and Chart No. 1, and modern catalogs index electronic navigational charts and digital products alongside the paper folio.
