CE marking (recreational craft)

CE marking on a recreational craft certifies conformity with the EU Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU, which replaced Directive 94/25/EC. It applies to craft with a hull length of 2.5 m to 24 m used for sport and leisure, plus personal watercraft, propulsion engines, and listed components. The directive sets four design categories by exposure: A for winds above Beaufort 8 and wave height above 4 m, B up to force 8 and 4 m, C up to force 6 and 2 m, D up to force 4 and 0.3 m. Self-certification by internal production control is allowed only for category D and category C craft under 12 m; other cases need a notified body.
