A2. Maritime safety legislation: SOLAS and its codes

Definition

Safety measures for ships operating in polar waters (Polar Code safety part).

SOLAS Chapter XIV makes the safety part of the Polar Code mandatory for ships operating in Arctic and Antarctic waters, in force from 1 January 2017.
