Check-off list (ECDIS)
B3. Nautical ScienceDefinition
ECDIS route safety check sequence.
The ECDIS check-off list is the route safety check the navigator runs after planning a route and before activating it, verifying that the system has examined the whole track against the loaded charts. The ECDIS automatic check sweeps the planned route, its cross-track corridor, and the safety settings, then reports where the route crosses the safety contour, enters a no-go area, or passes a charted danger, so the planner can amend the leg or accept it knowingly. It depends on a correctly set safety depth and safety contour. Running this check is part of the appraisal and planning stages of voyage planning under SOLAS V/34.
