ECDIS

ECDIS is a type-approved navigation information system that displays selected information from a System Electronic Navigational Chart (SENC) together with positional input from GNSS and other sensors, and may be accepted as meeting the chart carriage requirement of SOLAS V/19 when supported by an approved backup. Equipment is built to one of three performance-standard generations, IMO Resolution A.817(19), MSC.232(82) of 2006, or MSC.530(106) of 2022, depending on installation date. A phased mandatory carriage timetable for ECDIS completed for most ship types by July 2018.
