Common Information Sharing Environment (CISE)
E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and riskDefinition
EU framework integrating maritime surveillance data.
An EU framework that lets maritime authorities across borders and sectors exchange surveillance data without a single central database, connecting systems used by navies, coast guards, customs, fisheries, border, and pollution-control bodies. Coordinated by the European Commission with EMSA technical support, CISE links national and EU systems (such as SafeSeaNet and EUROSUR) so a sighting held by one authority can be read by another with a need to know. It improves maritime domain awareness through interoperability, not data centralization.
