Counter-UAS (C-UAS)
E2. Naval, defence and maritime law enforcementDefinition
Naval defenses against unmanned aerial systems.
Counter-UAS (C-UAS) covers the sensors, weapons, and procedures used to detect, track, identify, and defeat unmanned aircraft systems threatening a ship or port. Defeat options split into kinetic (guns, the close-in weapon system, short-range missiles) and non-kinetic (radio-frequency and GPS jamming, spoofing, directed energy, and net or drone interceptors). Naval C-UAS gained urgency from drone and loitering-munition attacks in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf, where low-cost small UAS strain the economics of intercepting each one with a SAM.
