Definition

CMF counter-piracy task force.

The Combined Maritime Forces counter-piracy task force, established in January 2009 to focus specifically on disrupting piracy off Somalia and through the Gulf of Aden, splitting that mission from the broader CTF-150 security mandate. Headquartered in Bahrain and drawing on rotating contributions from CMF’s member nations, CTF-151 patrols the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor and the Somali Basin, deterring Pirate Action Groups and coordinating with EUNAVFOR Atalanta and independent deployers through SHADE. Its command rotates among participating navies.
