CTF 152

E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and risk

Definition

CMF Arabian Gulf security task force.

The Combined Maritime Forces task force responsible for maritime security inside the Arabian Gulf, established in March 2004 and headquartered in Bahrain. CTF-152 covers the Gulf’s international waters, working with regional navies to deter smuggling, terrorism, and other illicit activity and to support freedom of navigation in a body of water that includes the Strait of Hormuz approaches. It complements CTF-150, which operates the waters outside the Gulf, and CTF-151, the counter-piracy force; together the three split CMF’s geographic and mission coverage.
