DNV-RP-C205 is the recommended practice for modeling environmental conditions and calculating environmental loads on marine structures, the reference document DNV structural standards cite for wind, wave, current, and ice. It provides short-term statistical models for individual sea states and long-term joint distributions of significant wave height and period for a site, the wave spectra (Pierson-Moskowitz, JONSWAP, Torsethaugen) with their parameter relations, wind and current profiles, and load formulas from simple hand methods up to numerical hydrodynamics. It is used most in offshore and floating-structure design to set design sea states, return-period extremes, and fatigue spectra. The 2010 DNV revision and the later DNVGL/DNV editions carry the same scope.
