Express 27

A 27 ft (8.2 m) ultra-light displacement sportboat designed by Carl Schumacher and built from 1983 by Express Yachting in California. The Express 27 carries a fin keel, a tall fractional rig, and a planing hull light enough to surf downwind, crewed by four to five. It became a strong one-design fleet on San Francisco Bay, where the planing reaches in heavy air suit it. It is a one-design class, never an Olympic class, and represents the West Coast ULDB ethos in a trailerable size.
