Extended Well Test (EWT) Vessel

E4. Cruise, offshore energy and auxiliary/specialised fleets

Definition

Vessel temporarily producing/testing an offshore well.

A vessel rigged to produce a newly drilled offshore well for an extended period, weeks to months, to gather reservoir data such as flow rate, pressure decline, and fluid properties before committing to full field development. An extended well test goes beyond a short clean-up flow; the vessel provides separation, storage, and either flaring or offloading of produced fluids. Converted FPSOs, drillships, or dedicated early-production units serve this role, often under a turret or spread mooring for the test campaign.
