Definition

International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations.

FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, is the Zurich-based global body representing freight forwarders through national associations. It publishes the standardized forwarding documents recognized by banks and carriers: the negotiable FIATA Bill of Lading (FBL), the Forwarder’s Certificate of Receipt (FCR), the Forwarder’s Certificate of Transport (FCT), and the Warehouse Receipt (FWR). These documents give a forwarder’s undertakings a common, internationally accepted legal form.
