FSU (Floating Storage Unit)

A Floating Storage Unit is a tanker or purpose-built hull moored at a field or terminal to store crude oil, condensate, or LNG, with no production or processing capability. The distinction from an FPSO is the absence of topsides production: an FSU receives, holds, and transfers product but does not process well fluids. FSUs are common as LNG import buffers and at fields where processing happens elsewhere. They moor on a turret, spread mooring, or jetty and offload to shuttle tankers or carriers.
