Shuttle Tanker
E4. Cruise, offshore energy and auxiliary/specialised fleetsDefinition
DP tanker exporting FPSO crude to shore.
A shuttle tanker is a purpose-built, dynamically positioned tanker that lifts stabilized crude from an offshore FPSO or FSO and carries it to a shore terminal, the marine link where no export pipeline exists. It connects to the floating unit by a bow loading system and holds station on DP during the transfer, often in harsh North Sea or Brazilian basin conditions. Its DP and bow-loading capability distinguish it from a conventional trading tanker.
