Gencon

GENCON is BIMCO’s general-purpose voyage charterparty, the most widely used dry-cargo voyage form. The current edition is GENCON 2022, which revised the 1994 form’s laytime, demurrage, and lien provisions and added updated war-risks and sanctions wording. Its clauses on loading and discharging costs (the FIO family), the owner’s lien on cargo for freight, deadfreight, and demurrage, and its arbitration and law clause set the default risk allocation that brokers then amend in the rider clauses of a fixture.
