Baltic and International Maritime Council, drafter of standard maritime contracts.
The Baltic and International Maritime Council is the largest of the international shipping associations and the principal drafter of standard contract forms. Its documentary committee produces and revises the charterparties, bills of lading, and clauses that frame most dry, tanker, and offshore fixtures, including GENCON, NYPE, BARECON, TOWCON, and SUPPLYTIME. BIMCO clauses on sanctions, war risks, and force majeure are widely incorporated by reference, so a single clause change propagates across thousands of live contracts.
