GIA (Joint Hull Committee Gulf Listing)
E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and riskDefinition
JWC-listed area triggering AP premium.
An insurance-market listing of waters designated by the Joint War Committee (JWC), a body of Lloyd’s and IUA underwriters in London, as areas of perennial hull war, strikes, terrorism, and related perils. When a ship enters a JWC-listed area such as the Gulf of Guinea or the Gulf of Aden, the war-risk policy typically requires the owner to notify underwriters and pay an additional premium for the transit. The listing is reviewed periodically with advice from the Joint Hull Committee and security advisers, and drives breach-of-warranty and additional-premium clauses.
