Royal Navy light cruiser preserved on the Thames.

A Town-class light cruiser of the Royal Navy, launched 17 March 1938, preserved as a museum ship on the River Thames in London since 1971 and run by the Imperial War Museum. She fired some of the opening shots of the D-Day naval bombardment on 6 June 1944 and supported the Battle of North Cape that sank the German battleship Scharnhorst on 26 December 1943. She is the last surviving British big-gun warship of the Second World War.
