E3. Technology, digitalization and smart shippingDefinition
Cyber resilience of ships (new builds 1 Jul 2024+).
IACS Unified Requirement E26, Cyber resilience of ships, sets minimum cyber-security requirements at the ship level: identification of computer-based systems and critical service providers, network protection and segmentation, access control, recovery, and onboard testing during construction and survey. It applies to ships contracted for construction on or after 1 July 2024. E26 covers the vessel as an integrated system, while its companion UR E27 addresses cyber resilience of the individual onboard systems and equipment that the yard and OEMs deliver.
