IHO S-32

IHO S-32 is the Hydrographic Dictionary, the authoritative multilingual reference defining the terms of hydrography, charting, and navigation so that a word such as ‘sounding,’ ‘datum,’ or ‘shoal’ carries one agreed meaning across national offices. It is the terminology backbone behind the chart-data and survey standards (S-57, S-44) and is the citation for the exact definitions of units and features that appear on charts and in sailing directions.
