ISO 9001
C2. Ship operations, crewing and technical managementDefinition
Quality management standard often integrated with ISM.
ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system (QMS), specifying requirements an organization meets to demonstrate consistent product or service quality and customer satisfaction. The current edition, ISO 9001:2015, is built on the Annex SL high-level structure and the process approach, with clauses for context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, and improvement around the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. Ship managers certify their shore office to it and integrate it with the ISM Code safety management system and ISO 14001, audited by an accredited certification body on a three-year cycle with annual surveillance audits.
