Joint Maritime Security Operations
E2. Naval, defence and maritime law enforcementDefinition
Coalition maritime constabulary missions.
Joint maritime security operations are coalition or interagency constabulary missions that pool naval, coast-guard, and law-enforcement assets to police shipping lanes, enforce sanctions, and suppress piracy, smuggling, and trafficking. The Combined Maritime Forces at Bahrain run the standing example: CTF-150 for maritime security and counter-terrorism, CTF-151 for counter-piracy (stood up January 2009), CTF-152 in the Arabian Gulf, and CTF-153 in the Red Sea (2022). Regional frameworks include the EU’s EUNAVFOR Atalanta (2008) off Somalia and the Yaounde Code of Conduct (2013) for the Gulf of Guinea.
