JWC Bulletin
E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and riskDefinition
Periodic publication amending listed areas.
A JWC bulletin is the notice the Joint War Committee issues to update the Hull War, Piracy, Terrorism and Related Perils Listed Areas, adding, removing, or amending the geographic zones that carry additional premium. The committee, made up of Lloyd’s and International Underwriting Association war underwriters, reviews the list with security advisers and republishes it when the threat picture changes; bulletins followed the 2023 Red Sea escalation and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The bulletin is market guidance, not a binding tariff: individual underwriters set the actual additional premium they charge.
