MERSAR / IAMSAR

MERSAR (Merchant Ship Search and Rescue Manual) and IAMSAR are SAR coordination publications. MERSAR and the separate IMOSAR were merged into the joint IMO/ICAO International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) Manual, first published in 1998 and revised on a three-year cycle. IAMSAR has three volumes: Volume I Organization and Management, Volume II Mission Co-ordination, and Volume III Mobile Facilities, the volume carried aboard ships under SOLAS Chapter V Regulation 21. It supports the 1979 SAR Convention and the work of Rescue Coordination Centers.
