Accommodation, recreational facilities, food and catering.
Title 3 of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 sets standards for accommodation, recreational facilities, food, and catering. Regulation 3.1 fixes minimum requirements for crew accommodation and recreational facilities (headroom, cabin size, sanitary facilities, heating and ventilation, lighting), applying in full to ships built on or after the date the MLC entered into force for the flag state. Regulation 3.2 requires free, good-quality food and drinking water in adequate quantity, and trained, certificated ship’s cooks on ships with a prescribed manning. The MLC, 2006 entered into force on 20 August 2013. Port state control officers inspect Title 3 items against the Declaration of Maritime Labour Compliance.
