MSC-IO (Maritime Security Centre Indian Ocean)

The Maritime Security Centre Indian Ocean, the rebranded and rescoped successor to the Maritime Security Centre Horn of Africa as EUNAVFOR Atalanta widened its remit beyond Somali piracy. The change reflects the shift from a single fixed High Risk Area to a broader Indian Ocean security picture covering piracy, weapons and narcotics trafficking, and other maritime threats. The center continues to register merchant ships, support transit planning, and share awareness with UKMTO, CMF, and the regional fusion centers.
