Multi-purpose vessel

MPV, ship designed for general, project, and bulk cargo.
A multi-purpose vessel (MPV) is a general cargo ship built to carry breakbulk, project, heavy lift, containers, and bulk in the same hull. MPVs have box-shaped holds, movable tween decks for separating parcels and adding deck strength, and heavy derricks or cranes, often two working in tandem to lift several hundred tonnes. The design trades the cube efficiency of a pure container ship for flexibility, letting the ship load wind turbine blades, transformers, steel coils, and bagged cargo on one voyage. MPVs serve trades and ports that a specialized vessel cannot, which keeps them in project and parcel work.
