The Newport Bermuda Race is a 635-nautical-mile ocean race from Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda, co-organized by the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. First sailed in 1906 and held biennially in even-numbered years, it crosses the Gulf Stream and is one of the world’s oldest regularly scheduled ocean races. It races keelboats under IRC and other divisions. It is nicknamed the “Thrash to the Onion Patch.”
