OCIMF MEG4

OCIMF MEG4 is the fourth edition of the Mooring Equipment Guidelines (2018), the Oil Companies International Marine Forum reference for mooring tankers and gas carriers. It introduced the ship design minimum breaking load (MBLSD) as the basis for sizing lines and fittings, set out line-management and inspection regimes, and tightened guidance on mixed mooring and synthetic tails after a series of mooring-line failures. Terminals and tanker operators apply MEG4 to specify mooring layouts, line types, and the safe working loads of quay fittings.
