One-meter trim moment

B1. Naval Architecture

Definition

Numerical synonym for MCT.

The one-meter trim moment, more usually the moment to change trim one centimeter (MCT1cm), is the longitudinal moment needed to alter trim by a unit amount. In the metric one-centimeter form it equals (displacement * GML) / (100 * L), where GML is the longitudinal metacentric height and L the length between perpendiculars, giving units of tonne-meters per centimeter of trim change. The trim produced by a weight shift is then the trimming moment, weight times the longitudinal distance moved, divided by MCT1cm. It is read against draft from the curves of form. The term one-meter trim moment denotes the same quantity scaled to a one-meter trim change.
