PCTC (Pure Car Truck Carrier)

A PCTC (Pure Car/Truck Carrier) is the heavy-duty roll-on/roll-off auto carrier whose decks are strengthened and partly hoistable so it loads trucks, buses, and high-and-heavy machinery alongside cars, where the lighter PCC takes cars only. Hoistable decks raise clearance to 6 to 6.5 meters for tall units, and cargo is rated in car equivalent units (CEU) tied to the RT43 reference car. Capacities run from about 5,000 CEU to the largest at 9,300 and rising; Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s Shaper class is 9,300 CEU with upsized units reaching about 12,100. A stern quarter ramp rated for tens of tons carries the heaviest rolling cargo aboard.
