The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy at San Narciso, Zambales, the national state maritime academy of the Philippines, tracing its origin to the 1820 Escuela Nautica de Manila and the oldest maritime school in Asia. It commissions deck and engineering cadets to STCW 1978 (as amended Manila 2010) standard for the world’s largest seafarer-supplying nation, awarding Bachelor of Science degrees in Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering and a Philippine Navy or Coast Guard reserve commission.
