Quincy Class Heavy Cruiser Memorials

Memorials and named-ship commemorations for US Navy heavy cruisers carrying the name Quincy. USS Quincy (CA-39), a New Orleans-class cruiser commissioned 1936, was sunk at the Battle of Savo Island on 9 August 1942 with heavy loss of life; her successor USS Quincy (CA-71), a Baltimore-class cruiser commissioned 1943, carried President Franklin Roosevelt to the Yalta conference in 1945. Both were Quincy, Massachusetts, built; the city and the United States Naval Shipbuilding Museum keep the memorial record.
