Rock Dumping Vessel

A rock-dumping vessel places graded rock on the seabed to protect, stabilize, and cover offshore pipelines, cables, and subsea structures, and to prepare berms and scour protection for foundations. The two methods are the fall-pipe vessel, which lowers rock through a controlled flexible pipe with an ROV-steered end for accurate placement, and the side-stone (side-dumping) vessel, which discharges over the side for broader, less precise coverage. Rock grading and berm geometry are designed against hydrodynamic stability and dropped-object protection per DNV-RP-F107 and project-specific scour assessments.
