Rolling cargo
C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal tradeDefinition
RoRo cargo such as cars or trailers.
Rolling cargo is freight that drives or is towed on and off a ship under its own or external wheels, the cargo class handled by roll-on roll-off operations. It includes cars, trucks, buses, trailers, construction and farm machinery, and self-propelled units, plus non-powered loads carried on roll trailers, mafi trailers, or cassettes. Rolling cargo loads through stern, side, or quarter ramps onto vehicle decks where it is lashed to deck securing points, with no crane lift. The category drives pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) and ro-pax design and is billed by lane meter rather than by weight or TEU.
