Nippon Foundation-GEBCO initiative to map the entire seafloor by 2030.
Seabed 2030 is the Nippon Foundation-GEBCO project to map the entire ocean floor at full coverage by 2030 and make the data freely available through GEBCO. At its 2017 launch about 6 percent of the seafloor was mapped to modern multibeam resolution; pooled crowd-sourced and survey data have since raised that to roughly a quarter. It coordinates regional data assembly centers and standardizes contributions to a single grid.
