Trent 30 (Rolls-Royce)
B2. Marine EngineeringDefinition
Marine aero-derivative gas turbine (legacy).
The Marine Trent 30 is a legacy aeroderivative marine gas turbine from Rolls-Royce, rated near 25 to 30 MW, derived from the aero Trent engine family. It is a twin-spool gas generator driving a free power turbine, burning marine gas oil or distillate, used as a prime mover on fast ferries and in combined-cycle and electric-drive plants. It is distinct from the larger Rolls-Royce MT30 (about 36 to 40 MW, based on the Trent 800), which superseded it in naval service. The Marine Trent 30 saw limited merchant use and is now largely out of production, the entry’s legacy status reflecting that.
