Uffa Fox Trophy

A dinghy-racing trophy named for Uffa Fox (1898 to 1972), the Cowes designer whose planing dinghies, notably the 1928 International 14 Avenger, changed small-boat sailing. Trophies bearing his name are awarded in classes he influenced, sailed at Cowes and other British dinghy venues. As a patron-named cup it appears in more than one class, so the awarding club and fleet fix which is meant. Fox also designed the airborne lifeboat used in World War II.
