London-based protection and indemnity mutual.

The UK P&I Club (The United Kingdom Mutual Steam Ship Assurance Association) is a protection-and-indemnity mutual insurer providing third-party liability cover to shipowners and charterers: cargo claims, personal injury and death, pollution, wreck removal, collision liabilities, and fines. Founded in 1869, it is one of the largest P&I clubs and a member of the International Group of P&I Clubs, which pools and reinsures large claims among the thirteen member clubs. The club is managed by Thomas Miller, the London insurance manager, on behalf of its mutual shipowner members.
