UNLOCODE

UN/LOCODE (United Nations Code for Trade and Transport Locations) is a five-character code identifying ports, airports, inland depots, and other places relevant to trade and transport, maintained by UNECE (the UN Economic Commission for Europe) since 1981. The first two characters are the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code; the last three identify the location within that country, using letters or the digits 2 through 9 (0 and 1 are barred to avoid confusion with O and I). NLRTM is Rotterdam, SGSIN is Singapore. UN/LOCODE is the standard location key in EDI messages, customs and manifest data, AIS destination fields, and port-call systems, giving every port a single unambiguous identifier across the supply chain.
